STARTING A NEW PHASE OF MY LIFE
SO ... I have sorely neglected my website now for about two years. Please forgive me!
My life has changed dramatically and I have to now say I am retired, which has been a difficult thing for me to wrap my head around. I really, really loved designing for Simplicity since 1991 and probably would have continued forever, but they have restructured and will no longer be using freelance costume designers. This is giving me a chance to spend more time with my hobby, which is classical music. I play the oboe. My first grandchild was born about three weeks ago. This will keep me busy! I just made my first quilt for her. And I find myself very interested in sewing garments. Above I am wearing a dress I made from an old Indian Sari. A Sari is very long (6 yards long). It was lots of fun figuring out were to put all the borders and other elements. My plan is to encourage others to embrace sewing by teaching from time to time and running an American Sewing Guild neighborhood group in Maryland, where I live. Lots and lots of my patterns are still be available from Simplicity and, of course, there is eBay and Etsy to find the old ones. AND I always will answer questions and always love to see what you have made using one of my patterns! |
