"Sewcial" - super, satisfying & sew fun!

I feel sad, like a kid who just came home from a really fun summer camp! The Sewcial sewing retreat was such a special event. I got to spent two and a half days with a group of talented and really interesting ladies (and a few men). We worked hard during the day and then just hung out with great food and wine in the evenings, playing games, trying out sewing machines, getting professional shoulder massages, etc.

Teaching my pattern combining class 4 times in two days taught me ways to improve this class and my teaching style. Thank you Judy for suggesting the "Judy" method of dealing with the side seam and sleeve on the vest pattern exercise.

I even ... FINALLY ...  got to meet and get to know Gail Yellen and Jennifer Stern. I knew they were great teachers, but now I know they are really nice and fun people, too.
I already knew that about Janet Pray!

Remember that piece of fabric that was sent to me (and everyone else attending Sewcial) in early March? If not read my blog about it.
Everyone participated and made something for a gift exchange that was part of the first night cocktail party.

Well, this is what I made with my piece.

It was sewn in my Studio/Shed in Santa Barbara, put in a suitcase to take back to my home in Maryland and then in another suitcase to Michigan 5 days later.

Here is Linda wearing it. She says she loves to cook and entertain and will put it to good use. I love it when the right person gets the right gift. (thank you Lynn Blasey for the photo)

I was really fun to see what 45 different people did with the same piece of fabric.

I truly hope this is fun weekend can happen next year and the next and next and next ...

Brave to Jessica Johnson and her crew.
