Calling All Costumes!!!!

Many people have suggested I start a gallery of costumes people have made using my patterns. This is a terrific idea!

Please send images with pattern used and any other information to
scheweandrea@yahoo.com

SO, today I will share with you two costumes I've made for myself that became Simplicity patterns.

For a number of years I performed with my local Gilbert and Sullivan society. And I almost always made my costume. The one above I made for an interesting production. Not one of G & S's operettas, but an evening of music from all the operettas that also told the story of their lives and how they worked together. We decided every woman would wear a dress from a different time in the Victorian era, which is when they wrote all their pieces.

I wore the very pronounced 1880's bustle, which I had always wanted to try making.

AND ... it became this pattern!

In a production of The Sorcerer, I played Lady Sangazure (a VERY aristocratic older woman) and made this dress, which became ...

So, come on guys ... let me see your stuff.

I'm not sure which all of my patterns are yours but I have a couple ones I've done. Maybe you could list them here.
I've asked the ladies on my Pattern Review Group to come here if they have any.

I have at least three of your costume patterns but haven't sewn any of them yet. My hobby for the past 6 years has been ice skating so I'm always buying fun costume pattaerns for future use - we do crazy programs on ice. I also plan on buying your new anime pattern, too, for a skating dress.

I loved hearing about your G & S past! I, too, have performed in quite a few productions and have also played Lady Sangazure, as well as Little Buttercup, Dame Hannah and Ruth. I'm dying to play Katisha but the group I worked with has disbanded. :(

Ooooh, how nice (and scary!)! I recently purchased one of your Steampunk patterns, which, living in Europe, is not an easy thing to do, to make one or even two costumes for a convention in October. I have not started on them yet because the corset is a bit intimidating, especially as I have noone to help me with the fitting. But this might just be the little push I need to get going. Thank you for this wonderful idea!

Hi, Andrea--is there a possible typo in your email address, above? (Should be "yahoo," not "yaoo?") I have pictures of 2621 (the Elizabethan corset) and 4059 (men's Renaissance ensemble) I'd love to share; but my email client never tells me if things bounce, so I just wanted to make sure. Thanks!!

Yes, it's yahoo, but that's what it looks like to me .... hmmm, I wonder why it is saying yaoo for you?

The first time you give your email address , you've put "@yaoo.com" but the serving time you've spelled it correctly.

Just today I wore my latest costume to a cosplay picnic - made using one of your Game of Thrones patterns! I will be sure to send you photos of my Cersei Lannister (and the other costumes I have made using your pattern designs) :D

Yes! Andrea, I just used your "Gibson girl" pattern w/ the HUGE gigot sleeves. I was wondering how I should let you know. I did make the sleeve puffs smaller & added gussets to the pattern though. It was for a more glamorous Wicked Witch of the West for a production of Oz I designed. I'll get pics to you soon! Thank you for your "Hallelujah! I don't have to invent the wheel!" & time saving patterns!

One of my all time favorite patterns of yours that I use over and over again is the Phantom of the Opera Christine pattern. I only use the bodice but I love it - it fits so well, is so flattering and works for a few different Victorian decades. I used it on both my Victorian fancy dress costumes - Harlequine and Bee. Once I dig them up I'll send you pictures.

Do you have a list or gallery of all the patterns you have created over the years? It would be great to use as a reference for this, but also just something great to look at in the future on your site!

CJ - this is on my "to do" list. Thanks for reminding me. Hope to get to it when I return from the American Sewing Guild conference in a couple weeks.
