EEK! - making a video

SO ... this has been a fun, exhausting and different week for me. FIRST, my older son was here visiting, we went to the beach for a couple days and he made this great drawing on his iPad of my husband and me sitting under our umbrella.

BUT, it was a really good thing he was here now, because Simplicity has asked many of their costume designers for a short video to introduce ourselves. I couldn't have done this without him.
I AM NOT a movie actor, this was so much harder than I thought it would be! We must have filmed enough to make a 2 hour movie.

So, to make up for missing a few days of blogging I will share some favorite out takes today.

We did a bunch of tries like the one above before someone FINALLY (might have been my daughter-in-law) pointed out it would look a lot better if I got the mess of the futon and turn it back into a couch.
The closest didn't make the final cut ... my son said it wasn't interesting enough. AND the videos have to be less than 3 minutes.
The designer movies will be put up on the website starting soon.

Next week Simplicity is shipping it's new line of patterns and I have quite a few. So, lots of interesting blogs in the future.

I find the headless child mannequin on the ironing board in the closet video a little more unsettling. It's not like I'd notice a pile on a futon anyway...

What fun! Maybe actors DO earn their millions! You're very photogenic, though, and kudos to your son.

After you mentioned new Simplicity patterns, I took another look at their website and saw their "Premium Print on Demand" range. How many of these costume patterns are yours? The ones that I know are yours aren't marked to show the designer name. I realised I used a few of these patterns (or similar) a few years back for a family reunion historical pageant/play (they acted out the story of the family arriving in Australia in 1858, and I realised that US Civil War costumes were around the same time, so I used that style of pattern). At the time, I was having difficulty finding a pattern for the woman playing the matriarch. She was coming from interstate for the reunion and I had to rely on measurements they had given me. Which were wrong "because we thought we should allow a bit extra just in case" - and I used your Cold Mountain skirt pattern for her in the size 26 - then took in the gathering a fair bit when I finally got to fit it on her.
What a pity these (print on demand) patterns are only available in the US. Hope they realise that people outside your lovely country require costume patterns too and change that policy quick smart!
