Hilarious frustrations of sewing for others

If you are reading my blog, chances are you can sew. And, chances are you can sew pretty well. Which means your friends who don't sew have very likely asked you to make something for them. Because they don't realize sewing takes TIME!

I've surely been there. When I was very young, I said "yes" all the time. It is a great way to get a lot of experience and I just seemed to have more time back then.

BUT, now I ... as politely as I can ... say "NO". Sewing for others can be so hard and frustration.

Sew! ... you can either bang your head on the wall or just watch this Youtube video.

It is my favorite. If you seen it before, it's well worth a second viewing.

Here is the link if the video doesn't work here. CLICK HERE

Enjoy!
AND ... a friend just let me know about this video ... sewing, picky, Pretty Ponies!!

And here is the backup link incase this video doesn't work. CLICK HERE
This says it all.

I had the cutting clerk at JoAnn's tell me, "Now, you must make costumes for a living. If you don't, then shame on you!" I replied, "If I did that, then it wouldn't be fun anymore!"

Kudos to you, and others who have the patience to make a living from our art. If I did, I think I'd have to print out at least a dozen copies of the stress reducing kit, and paste them all over my sewing room. And maybe keep one or two in my purse. You know, for those in-home commission consultations. *shudder*

This was hilarious!! This actually applies to anything requiring a level of skill that obviously requires practice. Sometimes, the most difficult process of creating is bringing an idea forth from one's own mind eye into the physical. It's a rare person who can bring to fruition someone else's mind eye creation into the physical, especially to perfection. Thanks for starting my day off with a smile! The Goose

"You're made of rainbows and glitter" - LOL! I don't sew well enough to get these requests, thank heaven, but I know just enough to find the horror stories of you sewing goddesses flabbergasting. Some people really don't have a clue!

I hate it when people ask me to sew for them, even if they pay me. I sew for myself for fun and it's not fun anymore when I'm doing something I don't want to do and when I have other things to do.

I am a commercial pattern maker who is now "sewing over 50"!
I love to sew and hope to encourage others to come back to sewing.
    The water is fine!!
