Home at last!

Hi everyone ... I'm a little blurry eyed, but didn't want to miss a blog posting.

I am SO JET LAGGED!!!!  Got home last night at 10 pm after a 28 hour journey from the
hotel in Singapore to home and that doesn't count the trip the day before from Bangkok to the hotel in Singapore.

I'm very proud that I managed to get off 21 blogs while away on my super southeast Asian trip.  Thanks to Martha McCain for her 2 blogs.

Southeast Asia is one of the places where the American dollar goes pretty far and there are a lot of beautiful hand made things for sale as well as cheap factory made stuff.  So, I shopped more than I usually do on this trip, but laying it all out on my living room floor it doesn't look like as much as  it seemed when I was trying to smoosh it all into my carry on sized suitcase.

The more I travel, the more I try to pack light.  It just makes it so much easier to travel from place to place, and it keeps me from really going over board buying to many souvenirs.

Here are all the textiles I purchased.
In this pile are 8 scarves, 8 cuts of fabric, 4 sarongs and a huge table cloth that I intend to sew into something.  As you can see I also bought a lace top and a funky split skirt both for about 8 dollars each, and a set of grass placemats.

Oh, in yesterday's blog I told you about a Kimono Store in the Tokyo airport.  I did take a photo of it, but since I took it with my camera, not my iPhone I couldn't put it in yesterday's post.

I had to take a sneaky photo, because I didn't think they would like me taking photos of their goods.

I had to study up on Kimonos when I made this Kimono pattern a few years ago.  So, I had a fun conversation with the salesladies. I was able to ask intelligent questions and tell them how much I love and appreciate Japanese kimonos.

They were surprised that I knew about all the under layers necessary when wearing a kimono.  And that kimonos are hand sewn together because the pieces are taken apart every time one is cleaned.

So, all the underlayers are important to keep the outer silk kimono from having to be cleaned too often.

This is about all I'm good for today.  Next week I will start my stories and what I learned while traveling.

I ate some pretty good food and saw some pretty amazing sites in addition to a lot of pretty fabric.

Cheers
