See what I made while everyone else was making Halloween costumes.

It is partially made from a fabric from my stash, but then I had to buy thinks to augment the fabric I had on hand.

This is the pattern I used, but some things got changed.  Primarily I added a lining. This will be a cool weather coat for me when I want to look a bit elegant.  But, I think it will look nice with jeans, too.

I had a lot of fun making this ... and as a way to stall for time, I will take the next 2 blogs to write about it. I will show how to create a lining pattern from the basic coat pattern.

Read my blogs about sewing this coat.
All about the fabrics
One about creating and sewing in a lining.

Now that Halloween is over I've been assigned a couple very involved Halloween patterns to make and I don't have that long to do it AND I have a couple sets of house guests coming ... so I've got to go back to the studio and sew and sew while I have the chance.

Very attractive Fall jacket. Should work well with lots of stuff; from casual to dressy. Your promised "how to" construct a lining will be a welcome lesson for me!! Wow, next year's Halloween costumes already, eh?! Nothin' like playin' "beat the clock!" heh-heh. The Goose

I agree that coats need linings! Can't believe the patterns these days that are "unlined." Yes, I can, and do, make my own lining patterns, too. True, it isn't hard, but it takes time!
