Well, here's another of my travel logs ... while I work on another "serious" blog post for you.

I've been looking at photos from our trip and they are reminding me how hot it was. What a great trip, but so hot.  The last three days were spent in Bangkok.  We visited all the tourists spots, the Royal Palace, museums and several temples.  And we did what we always like to do when visiting a city, which is walk.  You see so much more on foot. And because it is so hot and so few people have air conditioning the the shops spill out onto the sidewalks making walking a challenge, but very interesting.

So, I am going to show you things that caught my eye while walking around the city.

This is what the sidewalks were like. Hardly a space to get by in places.

And can anyone tell me what fruit this is??

I saw lace tops like this for sale in many places. I bought one. It will be really good for layering.
Picture
Many of the outdoor restaurants had fun sculptures. I really liked this one.

Speaking of restaurants, isn't my rice cute!

This was the first of many treadle sewing machines I saw outside. As I said, it was HOT so I can only imagine it would be more comfortable to work outside.

We visited one place just outside Bangkok where they have a floating market. This was the way business was conducted in Bangkok a century ago. And being on the water was a little cooler.

These figurines were from a shop window.

More outdoor sewing

A neighborhood fabric store. The family was sitting at a table in the middle of the store having lunch, but one lady stopped to cut a couple meters of a cotton print for me.
And, to bring a smile to your face this Friday, I have a couple of short videos from a touristy cultural show we saw.  It was air conditioned inside!!!!
The first one is the "band" playing a familiar tune.  See if you can guess it.
And the last is a procession for some holiday.  Cheesy but fun.

Love the travelogues! I think the fruit you snapped is jackfruit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackfruit, though it could possibly also be durian.

Must be durian. Three different people have told me so, now. So, what does it taste like??
