For many of you sewing and costuming is your hobby, but what do I do to get away from work? And especially what do I do to spend time with other humans, since I work alone in my home studio??
I belong to a BAND!! For the last 10 years I have been a member of the wonderful Maryland Community Band. As many of you know I studied music in college, actually getting my degree as a classical singer, but I played flute and piccolo from the time I was 9 years old into my first 2 years in college.
I joined this band because I was having trouble with my voice, but still wanted to make music. I've stayed in the band so long because I love the people. I've made good friends and have even taken two overseas trips with them.

So, right next to my work table I keep my instruments and music so I can take a break from sewing and practice.

We play all sorts of music from band arrangements of classical orchestral pieces to jazzy stuff like this ...
